Rodriguez Engagement Photos

My sister will get married this summer in Cartagena, Colombia and will have a secondary celebration in Colorado. As part of her wedding gift, I took engagement photos for her and her fiancé. I visited home over Easter weekend to take these photos and to throw her bridal shower. We took most of the shots in Downtown Denver, including Union Station and just outside of the Museum of Nature and Science. Since engagement photos wouldn’t be complete without the whole family, my sister’s dog Maia joined us.

This series is my first engagement photo shoot. I know as the photographer I need to ease the awkwardness in the beginning, but it took a little time, not only because it was my first and the couple’s first shoot, but it is my sister. Eventually though, we became more comfortable. I am also quite thankful that our father helped out by watching Maia when we could not take care of her. While we shot in early spring, it still felt quite like winter, but we did manage to find a wonderful spot outside of Union Station with fresh spring blossoms.

I really like how these photos turned out. Since I gave these photos as a gift, I felt like I had a little creative freedom than most family photographers would have. I tend to like bright and vivid colors, so I often edit photos to bring those out, sometimes to the point where the photo has been quite stylized. Even with the freedom to apply my own creativity and style, I did listen to the couple’s opinion on the photos.

I hope you enjoy this new addition to my portfolio! ㅅ_ㅅ
