As a Native Coloradan

Once again, E and I visited Colorado for Christmas. I never tire of exploring my home state. Year round, the opportunities are endless in Colorado for visitors. Outside the usual family activities, skiing, and visiting Denver sites, I took E to a few more national parks. After meeting some friends for brunch at Snooze, E and I drove down to outside of Colorado Springs to see the Painted Mines Interpretive Park. Honestly, I felt like the park was slightly underwhelming. No doubt the rocks were beautiful in all their multi-colored glory, but it took us awhile to find the key part of the park and even then, it felt really small. Maybe I had high expectations of natural wonders, especially after our Iceland trip. Yet, there are still many more places to visit in Colorado.

Later, we went to Crema Coffee House in RiNo with my dad. Denver has grown so much since I moved away, especially during the three years in Korea. Union Station, RiNo, all these types of areas feels foreign to me. After visiting RiNo, I felt less like a local, even though I am proud of my Colorado-born background. I guess I am getting to the point where I have had so many different homes, so that when I return to a home, I can approach it like a visitor again.

On our last few days of free time in Colorado, my mom took E and me to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Of course, we briefly visited the Stanley Hotel, and then made our way along the winding mountain roads of Rocky Mountain National Park. E enjoyed our winter hike to the lake and also walking on the frozen lake. Maybe I have achieved one more step closer into convincing him to relocate to Colorado. I guess I will have to try a summer trip to sell him fully on the joy of living in Colorado.

Well that is all for now. Keep following for more updates. Next post should be featuring the new pup in the family. Thanks.
